Mark Schäfer matriculated from Wynberg Boys High School, Cape Town in 1982. He went on to study at the University of Cape Town and obtained his BA degree in 1985 and his LLB degree in 1987. After completing his Military Service as a Military Law Officer, he served articles at Pincus Matz Marquard Hugo Hamman and was admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer in 1992 and as a Notary in 1993. A few years later he became a director of Matz Watermeyer Inc (formerly the Claremont office of Pincus Matz Marquard Hugo Hamman) specialising in Foreclosures and Conveyancing and obtained a Diploma in Insolvency Law and Practice (cum laude) in 1998. In 2004 he joined the Wynberg office of Smith Tabata Buchanan Boyes as a Director concentrating on Property Law and Conveyancing and in 2009 left to start his own firm in the same field. He has served as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court – Wynberg since 2003 and as a committee member of the Southern Suburbs Attorneys Association for a number of years during which time he also served on the Cape Town Deeds Registry Stakeholders Liaison Committee representing the interests of the Cape Town Conveyancing profession. Mark is married with two adult daughters.

Hanekom Attorneys & Conveyancers is an associated firm with its main focus on conveyancing, commercial law and deceased estates. Lodewyk Hanekom matriculated from Paarl Gymnasium High School, in 1981, studied at the University of Stellenbosch and obtained his BA degree in 1984, his LLB degree in 1986 and his LLM in 1989. After completing his Military Service, he served articles at De Klerk & Van Gend (DKVG) and was admitted as an Attorney in 1992 and subsequently as Conveyancer in 1994. He initially practiced as sole practitioner in the Northern suburbs and subsequently became founder member and director of MHI attorneys, specialising in conveyancing and commercial law. In 2009, in pursuit of the benefits and more personalised service potential of a smaller business management structure and a virtual office infrastructure, he established the current firm in Bellville and has since practiced as a sole practitioner. In addition to his law degrees and professional qualifications he acquired a three-year diploma (DIPIEX) in International Trade and Export management from IMM in 2003, graduating as the top national student in the learning field. During his career as Attorney and Conveyancer he also acted as part time tutor and examiner for IMM in international trade law subjects and served as director of South African based companies involved in international trade. Lodewyk Hanekom is married and has two sons.
